Myopia Control: The Science
How contact lenses treat (& correct) myopia
Contact lenses slow myopia progression by altering how light rays are focussed in the back of the eye. Traditional glasses and contacts correct blurry distance vision in the central retina but focusses peripheral light BEHIND the retina, which appears to stimulate eye growth. The design of ortho-K, MiSight 1 Day and multifocal contact lenses shift the focus of these peripheral light rays IN FRONT of the retina to suppress these growth cues.
