I am a lifelong Westcoaster and very proud of it! I could not imagine living further than a drive away from the ocean and find solace in being by the water. I was fortunate enough to grow up in beautiful British Columbia, surrounded by stunning mountains, beaches and easy access to a plethora of multicultural cuisine rich in flavour and diversity.
Oregon beckoned when I pursued optometry school there. After deepening my love of food trucks, quirky people and endless greenery over that time, I found the perfect excuse to stay on for another year by pursuing fellowship training in Portland where I got to enjoy another year of hikes, waterfalls and some pretty terrific beer.
Then came Northern California (for a stint). After fellowship, I had the opportunity to bring my specialty contact lens expertise to the area while fulfilling a personal desire to explore living in an area with a little more sunshine (and a LITTLE less rain). Like many others though, the pandemic reframed our priorities. It ultimately led us move back up north to Salem, Oregon to be closer to family and where I had the privilege of assuming the practice of a retiring optometrist.
